About Me

Now I’m trying to see past all my fear Despite the longest damn night of the year

Winter Solstice Blues

That fear is the hesitation before the willingness to make himself vulnerable – the chance that he might be hurt again, or for her to be honest to herself about her feelings, her emotions.

The longest nights are trying, and sometimes overwhelmingly dark, but if we let them can be a cocoon for growth and beauty.

Dan Gibson, like so many others, has been clumsily walking this journey of doubt, faith, love and loss, and despite overwhelming disappointment, an ever-present if misunderstood hope. His humble and growing collection of songs is the parts of this journey that he wants to share with others, in anticipation that regardless of your station, that there is a shred of your story that resonates with his own.

Weaving simple words and themes in the most honest way he knows, drawing on sacred symbols and stories that often take on a different meaning than once intended in his own life, Dan pays reverence to his experiences in Canadiana and draws upon influences in folk, blues and indie pop to share his raw and emotional sound.
